Premium Alpaca Brand Seeking Retail Store Manager - Bar Harbor, Maine
Position Summary:
Peruvian Link is a premium Alpaca brand built on heritage, craftsmanship, and ethical sourcing. Since 1997, we have worked directly with skilled artisans in Peru, fairly compensating the people behind every piece we sell. Our Bar Harbor store is a seasonal destination for guests who are drawn to products that carry a real story.
We are seeking a Retail Store Manager to lead all aspects of day-to-day operations at our Bar Harbor location. This role is built for a confident, service-driven leader who can run a disciplined operation, develop a high-performing team, and deliver a client experience that reflects the quality and integrity of the Peruvian Link brand. The Store Manager reports directly to the Project and Retail Operations Manager and Ownership. Housing is available.
Requirements
Leadership Essential Functions
Recruit, onboard, and develop a professional, service-oriented sales team
Build and manage weekly schedules to maintain appropriate staffing across all shifts
Coach and mentor associates on product knowledge, brand storytelling, and thoughtful upselling
Inspire team enthusiasm for Peruvian Link’s products and mission so that energy transfers naturally to every client interaction
Provide consistent performance feedback and manage corrective action with professionalism and discretion
Foster a team culture built on accountability, collaboration, and genuine pride in the brand
Sales Essential Functions
Drive individual and store sales while maintaining the welcoming, unhurried atmosphere that defines the Peruvian Link experience
Maintain positive gross margins and overall store financial health
Track daily foot traffic, conversion rates, best sellers, and sales per hour to uncover opportunities to grow average ticket and item sales
Formulate sales analysis and projected growth based on current item performance to inform product ordering
Report KPIs to the Project and Retail Operations Manager and Ownership for sales forecasting and planning
Store Operations Essential Functions
Ensure financial integrity through strict cash-handling accountability, key control, and adherence to company security procedures
Monitor all aspects of inventory ordering, receiving, and inventory control
Oversee proper start and end of day paperwork and POS processes
Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support store sales; order inventory via Peruvian Link wholesale
Enter markdowns and damages into inventory back-office systems in coordination with headquarters
Maintain a clean, well-stocked store environment that reflects Peruvian Link’s premium standards
Lead merchandising efforts that honor the craftsmanship and heritage behind every product
Expected Skills, Traits & Competencies
Prior experience as a Retail Store Manager or Assistant Manager, preferably in premium or specialty retail
Strong sales acumen with the ability to read, interpret, and act on performance data
Calm, confident leadership with high emotional intelligence
Excellent communication skills with your team, with guests, and with ownership
Ability to multitask and maintain composure in a fast-paced, high-touch seasonal environment
Proficiency with Shopify, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and related retail platforms
Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to operational integrity
Professional presentation aligned with Peruvian Link’s brand standards
A genuine connection to quality, craftsmanship, and the story behind what you sell
Commitment
Full-time, a minimum of 45 hours per week with possible occasional overtime as needed
Position based at our Bar Harbor, Maine retail location for the full seasonal run (May – October)

Hourly rate commensurate with experience
End-of-season bonus based on performance and completion of the full season
