Overview
This position resides within the Retail Performance Improvement practice, which provides strategic, operational, and financial advisory services to high-performing, growth-oriented retail and consumer product companies. Senior Managing Consultants play a key role in leading engagement workstreams, guiding junior team members, and delivering analytically sound, operationally practical recommendations. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is comfortable managing multiple workstreams across diverse, rapidly evolving assignments.
Primary Responsibilities
Collaborate with RPI team members and client stakeholders to deliver engagement objectives across multiple workstreams.
Apply strong business, strategic, and analytical skills to execute and guide work such as financial modeling and analysis; operational and service strategy development; revenue growth initiatives; operational process and technology optimization; store labor planning and analysis; organizational design support; and assortment/inventory performance analysis.
Manage, coach, and quality-check the work of junior team members (Associates, Senior Associates, and Consultants) across engagements, ensuring clarity, structure, and timely execution.
Develop content and contribute to the preparation of high-quality client deliverables, including reports, written analyses, operational insights, and executive-ready presentations.
Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, ethics, quality, and integrity in all interactions.
Support the evolution of RPI methodologies, templates, and processes; contribute insights that strengthen existing service offerings.
Bring a pragmatic, hands-on approach to problem-solving to ensure recommendations are grounded in operational reality and drive measurable impact.

Required Skills & Experience
Experience in retail, direct-to-consumer, or consumer goods environments and/or consulting engagements with similar client types.
Expertise in one or more retail functional areas such as direct sourcing, product-to-market, consumer analytics, digital experience, marketing, personalization, digital commerce, back-office operations, distribution and transportation, store and omni-channel operations, or indirect procurement.
Demonstrated ability to conduct, interpret, and oversee financial and operational analyses, including supporting the implementation of performance improvement initiatives.
Experience improving working capital and financial performance through systems, tools, and bridge solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, Management, Engineering, Economics, Retail Management, Supply Chain, or related field. MBA or master's degree a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with junior and senior teammates, client management, and other stakeholders.
High proficiency in financial modeling and analysis (particularly in Excel).
Ability to synthesize both qualitative ("the art") and quantitative ("the science") inputs into structured insights and recommendations.
Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills with experience navigating complex issues.
Ability to manage and analyze large volumes of operational and financial data.
Intellectual curiosity, self-starter mentality, and capacity to learn quickly in dynamic environments.
High proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Experience with Access, Alteryx, Tableau, SQL, or Python is a plus.
Ability to travel to client sites as needed.
Typically 69 years of consulting experience with a retail focus, or 810+ years of combined consulting and retail industry experience, including experience leading workstreams and developing junior consultants.
Compensation
A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this role is $125,000$215,000.
This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
