Position Summary:
KICL is seeking a Retail & Property Generalist based in Kotzebue, Alaska. This position is responsible for maintaining, organizing, and ensuring the inventory accuracy of KICL's properties. The Retail & Property Generalist will handle prompt and accurate deliveries, as well as the efficient preparation and shipment of outgoing orders. Responsibilities also include retrieving freight from receiving airlines and the post office, and assisting with car rental operations.
This role reports to the Retail Manager, and works closely with the General Superintendent to coordinate property maintenance and management activities. The ideal candidate will consistently present a friendly and professional image of the company through in-person, phone, and email interactions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaboratively work as a productive team member to increase the sales and profits of KICL.
- Assist with car rental operations, including drop-off, pick-up, and car detailing.
- Open and Close the store as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness, order, and safety of the store and workplace.
- Price, order, and stock merchandise.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and proper labeling/storage of items in the store and back stock.
- Ensure hazardous materials are stored safety according to all environmental and safety requirements.
- Ensure employees are aware of loss prevention management and take actions as needed to minimize loss.
- Operate computer-based P.O.S. system with accuracy.
- Assist with seasonal inventory control.
- Deliver products and purchases as needed to individual customers, post office, and/or airlines.
- Pick up inventory/freight from airlines, post office, and local entities.
- Maintain and organize KICL properties, including snow, ice, and water removal.
- Assist with fuel dispenser maintenance and upkeep.
- Attend all trainings and team meetings.
- Assist with seasonal youth hire program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver's License, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- HAZMAT CFR49 certification, or ability to obtain with 6 months of hire.
Working Environment:
This position is a fast paced, variable environment that requires frequently multi-tasking and travel between sites. This position is exposed to items classified as haz-mat for travel, and Personal Protective Equipment must be worn when necessary. Regular, dependable attendance and communication is required. Work may require occasional overtime.

- Ability to perform physical activities: climbing (ladder), balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to perform written and computer-based work using pen & paper, keyboard and mouse, or other manual and electronic data/inventory management tools.
- Ability to communicate orally and written.
